Our debut album Fragments has received its first review, courtesy of Velvet Thunder.
The UK-based rock site describes the album as “an impressive debut” and points to Mörkekraft’s blend of heavy rock, stoner and psychedelia as the real strength of the release. While the reviewer questions the old “depressed Thin Lizzy” comparison, the verdict is clear: Fragments finds its own place through heavy riffs, fuzz-driven walls of sound and a focused approach to songwriting.
Velvet Thunder highlights how the album avoids unnecessary filler and long, self-indulgent build-ups, instead keeping the songs tight, direct and atmospheric. The review draws lines to Black Sabbath, Kyuss and even a pinch of Oasis, praising the way the band combines classic heaviness with stoner melodies and darker psychedelic moods.
Several tracks are singled out in the review. Follow the Spiders is described as opening in “gloriously Sabbath style”, while Kaleidoscope is compared to the irresistible pull of Sabbath’s Under the Sun. Virgil is named as one of the album’s highlights, with its wall of sound, guitar hook and powerful chorus standing out. The review also points to Godspeed as proof that the band can move into different territory without losing the character of the album.
