Rancor Metalzine reviews Fragments

Danish publication Rancor Metalzine has reviewed Mörkekraft’s debut album Fragments, released May 8, 2026 via Argonauta Records.

Under the headline “Melancholic heaviness and Nordic darkness from the Norwegian plains”, the review describes Fragments as a fascinating blend of heavy rock, stoner and psychedelic undertones, capturing a distinctly Norwegian sense of melancholy.

Rancor Metalzine highlights the album’s massive fuzz-driven riffs, atmospheric depth and almost cinematic feel. The vocals are described as carrying a noticeable emotional weight, perfectly complementing the band’s sound and the darker moods running through the album.

The review also points to the lyrical themes of human conflict, inner struggle and the search for meaning, while noting how Nordic landscapes seem to echo through the album’s colder soundscapes. According to Rancor Metalzine, Fragments finds an impressive balance between raw energy and more introspective, floating passages, giving the album a strong and coherent identity.

Musically, the review places Mörkekraft somewhere between Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath and Mastodon — while also underlining that the best way to understand the band is simply to listen.

Two tracks are singled out as highlights: Follow The Spiders and Kaleidoscope, described as songs that clearly show what Mörkekraft can do in 2026.

One line we are especially proud of:

“It is a debut that feels both mature and necessary.”
