Metal Integral reviews Fragments
French webzine Metal Integral has reviewed Mörkekraft’s debut album Fragments, released through Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records.
May 9, 2026
In the review, Metal Integral places Mörkekraft slightly outside the traditional stoner rock category, describing the band instead as heavy rock with a thicker, heavier hard rock foundation. While the album flirts with stoner elements, the review highlights that Mörkekraft never fully falls into one specific genre, giving the songs a broader and more melodic identity.
The review praises the band’s direct and effective sound, pointing to sharp, slightly gritty guitar riffs, a lively and flexible bass, and powerful drumming with an intelligent use of cymbals. Rather than focusing on complexity or surprise, Metal Integral underlines the rhythmic strength of the album, describing the songs as catchy, addictive and sharply constructed.
The vocals are also highlighted as one of the album’s strengths. The review describes the singing as clear, well-controlled and varied, with different emotional expressions across the songs — from the melancholy of Evil Eyes and Godspeed, to the impact of the opening track Follow the Spiders, and the more elevated delivery on Soul Confusion and Shine Your Light. Vocal arrangements, doubled voices and harmonies are also mentioned as elements that strengthen the album’s melodic potential.
Metal Integral suggests that Fragments should appeal not only to fans of the more accessible and melodic side of stoner rock, but also to listeners drawn to gritty hard rock and the darker grunge atmospheres of bands like Soundgarden and Alice in Chains.
The review concludes that while Mörkekraft are not trying to reinvent the wheel, the trio has delivered a debut album of great quality — one that points toward a promising future.
