The Kyuss tribute album Spaceship Landing, released by Witching Buzz, has now been reviewed by Musipedia of Metal — one of the UK’s established blogs dedicated to hard rock, doom, and heavy music.
Reviewer Rich Piva describes the release as “20 tracks of some of the best and some newer bands of the desert/stoner genre covering some of the best tracks from the legendary band.”
While noting that die-hard Kyuss fans might find it difficult to hear new versions of such iconic material, he praises the quality and performance across the album:
“All the bands do a great job. Kyuss rules, the bands on this album are great and they all do a great job.”
Several tracks stand out in his view, including Sonic Wolves’ “Thumb”, Rainbow Bridge’s “Apothecaries’ Weight”, ISAAK’s “Odyssey”, DoctoR DooM’s “Space Cadet”, and Fuzz Evil’s “Supa Scoopa and Mighty Scoop,” which he names the true highlight of the record.
Although he admits it’s “a lot to take in at once”, Piva concludes that Spaceship Landing is “worth your time” and recommends listeners to make their own mix of favourites from the compilation.
The review closes with a 7/10 rating, reinforcing the strong and consistent reception the album has received internationally — from Norway to the UK and beyond.
For Mörkekraft, it’s another confirmation that Spaceship Landing: A Tribute to Kyuss has struck a chord across the global stoner rock community, and we’re proud to be part of it with our version of “Writhe.”
