Mörkekraft release debut album “Fragments”

Fragments is an album that has taken shape over a long period of time. The title is entirely literal: the songs consist of musical fragments collected through 10–12 years of writing, jamming, reworking and letting ideas mature. Several of the riffs were written long before Mörkekraft found its final shape as a trio, but only truly fell into place once the band started building something heavier together, united by a shared attraction to down-tuned guitars, big riffs and atmosphere.

Fragments literally consists of fragments gathered from many years of riffs, ideas and jamming. For us, this debut album is both the end of a long process and the beginning of something new — and a chance to hit the road and show who we are as a band.”

The result is an album that ranges from driving, riff-based songs to darker and more atmospheric passages, lifted by melodic vocal harmonies and a strong sense of dynamics. On Fragments, Mörkekraft explores the relationship between weight, melody and unease, both musically and lyrically, in songs that circle around inner struggle, destructive forces and the search for meaning.

The album was recorded across two sessions at Bridge Burner Recording in Stavanger with Ørjan Kristoffersen Lund (Kal-El, NAG) behind the controls, and mastered by Steven Grant Bishop (Satyricon, Karavan, Sløtface). Together, they helped give the songs the weight, nerve and cohesion the band had been hearing in their heads for years.

The visual expression is also closely tied to the music. The album cover is based on a photograph taken by graphic designer and bassist Roger Henriksen in 2014 at Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse in Denmark. Inside the tower was an art installation with mirrors mounted upward, and the image is shot straight up so that the reflections repeat in small surfaces — like fragments drawn toward a midpoint. The motif took on a surreal and hypnotic quality, like a kaleidoscope or a corridor leading into something unknown. Layer upon layer of details and a carefully developed colour palette underline the dark and suggestive atmosphere that defines Fragments.

Although Fragments is Mörkekraft’s debut album, the trio brings extensive experience from previous bands, concerts and touring in Norway and abroad.

The album will be released on deluxe coloured vinyl and digital formats on May 8, 2026.
